Marks Required Calculator
Calculate the marks you need to score to achieve your target percentage.
What This Calculator Does
This calculator tells you exactly how many marks you need in upcoming exams or assignments to reach your target percentage, given your current score and the total possible additional marks.
Formula
Marks Required = (Target% × Total Marks) - Current Marks
Example
Problem: You have scored 340 out of 400 so far (85%). You want an overall 90% across the full course of 600 marks. How many marks do you need in the remaining 200 marks?
Solution:
Target Marks = 90% × 600 = 540
Current Marks = 340
Marks Required = 540 - 340 = 200
Answer: You need 200 marks out of the remaining 200 to reach 90%.
Interpreting the Result
- If the result is 0 or negative, you have already met or exceeded your target.
- If the result exceeds available marks, your target percentage may not be achievable.
- Adjust your target percentage or consider additional assessments if available.
Important Note
This calculator assumes all marks carry equal weight. Grading systems and weight distributions vary by institution. Always verify with your official guidelines.
