SGPA to CGPA Calculator
Calculate cumulative CGPA from multiple semester SGPAs using credit-weighted averaging.
What This Calculator Does
This calculator converts your per-semester SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) into a cumulative CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) across multiple semesters, weighted by the credit hours of each semester.
Formula
CGPA = Σ(SGPA × Total Credits for Semester) ÷ Σ(Total Credits)
Example
Problem: You completed two semesters. Semester 1: SGPA 8.5 with 20 credits. Semester 2: SGPA 8.0 with 22 credits. What is your CGPA?
Solution:
Semester 1: 8.5 × 20 = 170
Semester 2: 8.0 × 22 = 176
Total Weighted Points = 170 + 176 = 346
Total Credits = 20 + 22 = 42
CGPA = 346 ÷ 42 = 8.24
Answer: Your CGPA is 8.24.
Interpreting Your CGPA
- 10-point scale: 8.5+ is excellent, 7.5-8.49 is very good, 6.5-7.49 is good
- Credit-weighted: Semesters with more credit hours contribute more to your CGPA
- Limitations: Some institutions use a simple average without credit weighting. Check your university's policy.
